The Gynn Wall

Location: The Gynn Wall, Blackpool, FY1 2LB

Opening times: 24/7.

The wall starts at Blackpool’s North pier and goes as far up the coast as Fleetwood.

The Gynn wall is a popular stretch of coast along the Irish Sea.

Fishing is free and open anytime.

You can fish 2 hours before and after high tide.

It’s a sandy bottom so there is not much to get snagged up on.

Fish can be caught from as little and 30 feet out.

To park your car on the wall you will need to obtain a permit from Blackpool Council these are available for £30. To obtain your permit click here.

The Species that can be caught here include:

  • Cod.
  • Sole.
  • Dab.
  • Whiting.
  • Bass.
  • Rockling.
  • Weaver.
  • Tope.
  • Gurnard.
  • Mackerel.
  • Smooth hound.
  • Common Skate.
  • Thornback Ray.
 

To fish here, we would recommend 2 rods, 2 reels and a tripod. The baits we recommend are squid and lugworm.

  •  No Littering.
  •  Must obtain a permit to park on the Gynn wall.
  •  Follow any lifeguard instructions.
  •  Don’t put yourself or others at risk.
  •  Don’t leave any used tackle.
  •  Beware of people walking behind you when fishing.
  •  Follow speed limit and drive with hazards until you reach your spot.
